The Utah Health Exchange came into existence after the Utah Legislature passed legislation in 2008 and 2009 directing the Office of Consumer Health Services to create an online health portal. The portal was intended to give consumers improved access to information so that they could make better healthcare and health insurance choices.
During a recent 2011 pilot that brought together eHealthApp and the Utah Health Exchange, several agents participating in the pilot were able to quote groups in both the Exchange and the traditional market with just a single set of applications. This was the first time concurrent quoting inside and outside the Exchange was made possible thanks to our technology. Participating producers praised the flexibility, ease of use, and efficiency of eHealthApp’s technology.
